"September 11th"

(Verse 1)
I was in the fifth grade on that fateful day
When those buildings fell had it on replay
In my english class happened all so fast
Looked like a bomb blast just blew them away
Those airplanes crashed false or it's fact
3000 people died from that one act
Towers collapsed whole world cried
Some survived when firefighters arrived
Lotta people's lives lost husbands and wives
Smoke from the carnage filled up the whole skies
Some say that they saw into the eyes of the devil when the plane impacted the metal
Dust didn't settle for a few days
People breathin' poison into their rib cage
Whole country was boiling with pure rage
People stuck under rubble like the Stone Age
In a few hours George Bush came on a plane
Spoke words of hope to help us all cope
For a moment no one thought he was a dope
Our leader, speaker, a heaven-sent President
Government started puttin' out evidence
That who did it were Muslim terrorists
That threat to us was the scariest
After the trauma we had experienced

(Verse 2)
I was in the fifth grade on that fateful day
My generation version of JFK
CNN played video of crying widows
A couple holding hands while jumping out a window
Teacher turned off the TV when we started seeing
All the grieving and bleeding
Repeating repeating repeating
It was like the disaster was never leaving
What we were feeling was so far removed
Is that to be true it had nothing to do
With our small town where no one around
Had been to New York or anything of the sort
But I was young so of course no one 'round me
Been much of anywhere seen anything
Or thought outside the box where we be
All we knew it was sad; a tragedy
The ending would come just happily
Just like we'd been taught by our family
It's funny as kid we don't understand things
Don't always mesh with fantasy

(Verse 3)
I was in the fifth grade on that fateful day
When those 2 planes hit the World Trade
America was laid wide open and plain
And felt real pain she ain't been the same
The holes still there where the buildings fell
Money for the hereos still aint been shared
Donations were sent by those who cared
But more was spent to have a war prepared
Afghanistan, Iraq; both were attacked
Though neither raised the people that hijacked
The jets we forget those "weapons of mass"
Ain't been found yet
And that's where we're at today
It's been 10 years now to the day
That the world we know was changed
September 11th, never forget it
